Day 2 - Vancouver

Renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breath-taking views in every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. Enjoy all the city has offer with your included flexible city tour. Highlights of downtown Vancouver, including major attractions, and scenic points of interest. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days, and the convertible clear top buses offer stunning views, rain or shine. Choose to Hop-Off at any of the 20 plus stops, and Hop-On again to continue the tour. Take an up close and personal look at Vancouver’s urban oasis, Stanley Park, have lunch at Granville Island, visit the historical Gastown or the trendy Yaletown, and don’t forget Robson Street to do a little shopping! Highlights of the route include English Bay, Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown, Gastown, Chinatown, Robson Street, and the Entertainment District. The tour loop duration is 120 minutes, without hopping off to visit attractions.

Today, pickup your hire car and take a scenic ferry ride through the Strait of Georgia and around the many Gulf Islands to Vancouver Island and stately, Victoria.

Overnights (2): Victoria

Day 4 - Victoria - Whale-watching cruise

The capital city of British Columbia, Victoria is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and is world-renowned for its charming ambience. Sometimes referred to as the “garden city” Victoria has a bustling harbour and beautiful heritage buildings. Enjoy an included whale-watching cruise in search of Orcas, minke whales and grey whales. Visit the beautiful Butchart Gardens and explore the harbour area by horse drawn carriage or stroll amongst the narrow streets and markets.

Day 5 - Victoria – Tofino (215 miles)

Leave Victoria heading north for the Pacific Coast and Tofino. Along the way stop at Chemainus to view the famed wall murals. They cover the sides of buildings and depict colourful scenes featuring the town’s heritage. Afterwards continue to Tofino winding through ancient forests and national parks.

Day 6 - Tofino - in search of the black bear

From Tofino enjoy the included cruise at low tide in a zodiac to see the feeding grounds of black bear. Day 9 - Kamloops to Jasper

Back on-board the Rocky Mountaineer you will follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus into the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Pass by Mt. Overnights (3): Jasper

Day 10-11 - Jasper

Collect your hire car this morning. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Jasper National Park. A showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and a world-class golf resort, the town of Jasper is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose – all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world-famous Spirit Island.

Day 12 - Jasper – Banff (173 miles)

Travel the Icefields Parkway through the natural splendour of Jasper and Banff National Parks. Glistening glaciers, cascading waterfalls, emerald lakes and alpine meadows dot this awe-inspiring mountain paradise. Stop at the Columbia Icefield, and, weather permitting, why not take the ‘Snocoach’ ride onto the Athabasca Glacier to walk on this huge expanse of ice. Afterwards view the turquoise waters of Lake Louise before arriving into Banff.

Overnights (3): Banff

Day 13-14 - Banff

With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops. Renowned for its winter activities, Banff is also the summer “gateway” to National Parks and the scenic splendour of the Icefields Parkway.
