This rail journey invites you to travel in luxury from Toronto, through a diversity of landscapes to Vancouver, a metropolitan gem o­n the Pacific coast. Board VIA Rail’s famous "Canadian" travelling in cabin accommodation west through the lake regions of Manitoba and the grain fields of Saskatchewan. Once in Alberta, embark o­n a tour of the Canadian Rockies, culminating in a visit to the Columbia Icefield. Your journey continues as you board the Rocky Mountaineer to witness some of the most spectacular areas in Western Canada en route to Vancouver. Day 1 - UK – Toronto

Your Canada holiday starts with a departure from London Heathrow o­n Air Canada flight to Toronto. O­n arrival you will transfer by airporter coach to your downtown hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure to explore Canada’s commercial and cultural centre.

Day 2 – Toronto

Discover the many identities of this cosmopolitan city o­n a sightseeing tour of Toronto. Build your own Toronto experience with the freedom of our Hop-On-Hop-Off City Tour aboard a London-Style Double Decker Bus or Trolley. Let the friendly and knowledgeable tour guides educate you on the fun facts and history of Toronto as they take you through the city with stops at / near all major hotels in the downtown area. The ticket also includes a free boat tour (available seasonally) of the Toronto Harbour and Islands. Day 3 - Niagara Falls

Enjoy a full-day excursion to Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls full day tour will bring you to one of Canada’s most spectacular sights. You will make your way to Niagara through the towns of Hamilton, "the steel capital of Canada", St. Catharines "the fruit basket of Ontario", and the wine region of the Niagara Peninsula. An ample amount of time will be spent at the falls to give you every opportunity to take pictures and admire the thundering waters. Included is a thrilling boat ride on the Hornblower cruise* for a unique view of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Other highlights include a panoramic lunch at Sheraton on the Falls and a trip along the beautiful Niagara Parkway which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge passing through the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, voted “Canada’s Prettiest Town”. Day 4 - Onboard VIA Rail’s The Canadian

Full day in Toronto before an independent transfer to Union Station to board VIA Rail’s The Canadian evening departure en route to western Canada. The railway travels north from Toronto through the picturesque Muskoka resort region and past Sudbury, the nickel capital of the world.

Days 5-6 – On board VIA Rail’s The Canadian

Travelling north of the Great Lakes, view the rugged terrain of the Canadian Shield, some of North America’s oldest rock formations. Rich in minerals and forests, the region is dotted with thousands of freshwater lakes. By early evening, the train crosses the border into the province of Manitoba and stops briefly in the capital, Winnipeg. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included.

Day 7 - Onboard VIA Rail’s The Canadian

By early morning, you will have crossed the vast expanses of prairie flatland in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and will be approaching the imposing silhouette of the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy nature’s grandeur as the train enters Jasper National Park. Breakfast & Lunch Included.

Day 8 – Jasper

Today enjoy an included excursion where you will experience Jasper National Park by travelling the trails of the early explorers and view the park’s unspoiled grandeur. You will begin along the mighty Athabasca Canadian Heritage River learning about David Thompson and the valley ecosystem. Hike above Maligne Canyon, with its narrow gorge and limestone walls created by 10,000 years of water erosion and visit a place of mystery and Indian legend at Medicine Lake. You are sure to see a variety of mountain wildlife.

Day 9 - Jasper – Banff

Today will be an unforgettable journey as you travel the Icefields Parkway. Travel the Icefields Parkway through the natural splendour of Jasper and Banff National Parks. Glistening glaciers, cascading waterfalls, Emerald Lakes, pristine rivers and alpine meadows dot this awe-inspiring mountain wilderness. The breath-taking panorama of snow-capped peaks and endless mountain ridges occasionally opens to afford a spectacular view of deep valleys stretching to a distant horizon. The tour stops at the Columbia Icefield where you will venture onto the massive Athabasca Glacier in a specially designed Ice Explorer. Other brief sightseeing stops include an opportunity to photograph the turquoise waters of picturesque Lake Louise. Ice Explorer ride, Glacier Adventure and lunch are Included. Visitors will take a shuttle from the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre 6.5km to the new Glacier SkyWalk. The glass-floored platform extends 30m out over the Sunwapta Canyon. Visitors can also enjoy the interpretive stations along the 500m long Discovery Trail that leads to and from the viewpoint. Experience waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more on an existing cliff-edge walkway that leads to a platform where glass is all that separates visitors from a 277m drop. Upon arrival in Banff in the afternoon, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Days 10-11 - Banff National Park - Evening Wildlife Safari
Situated o­n the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops. Renowned for its winter activities. Enjoy an included evening wildlife safari tour. Join this tour through Banff National Park in search of some of its most visible wildlife, with animal sightings on over 95 percent of departures. A knowledgeable guide will provide commentary on the threats to wildlife today and explain how the National Park environment helps protect animals and their natural habitat. Frequent sightings include bull elk, bighorn sheep and osprey. Your tour will be spent sightseeing and looking for wildlife and includes a scenic interpretive stop where you will have a photo opportunity. You will have binoculars on tour to use.

Day 12 - Banff – Kamloops, o­n board the Rocky Mountaineer
Today you board the Rocky Mountaineer heading west to the Pacific Coast. This unique daylight service allows you to view some of the most spectacular sights in Western Canada. The route departs the Rockies through Kicking Horse Pass, and then climbs into the Selkirk Mountains following Rogers Pass. By late afternoon, you are in the arid ranchland of interior British Columbia, where you disembark for the night. Breakfast and Lunch Included.

Day 13 - Kamloops – Vancouver, o­n board the Rocky Mountaineer

Today your spectacular daylight rail excursion to Vancouver continues. The journey leads through the "cowboy country" ranchland of the British Columbia interior and along the mighty Thompson and Fraser rivers. Rugged mountain peaks and rolling, wind-swept hills will define the horizon as you traverse the interior and approach the Coastal Mountains surrounding Vancouver. Upon arrival in Vancouver, transfer independently to your hotel. Breakfast & Lunch Included.

Day 14 - Vancouver

On a hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour familiarise yourself with Vancouver's many attractions that have contributed to this Oceanside city’s international reputation. The tour highlights include historic Gastown, nearby Chinatown, Stanley Park, English Bay and more. After the tour, the remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this fascinating city.

Days 15-16 – Victoria

Take a ferry-cruise through the scenic Gulf Islands to the capital of British Columbia, stately Victoria. During your stay, there will be plenty of time to explore. Enjoy an included whale-watching cruise. This coastal excursion is an exhilarating round trip of 50 to 80 kilometres in search of orcas, minke whales, grey whales, porpoises, harbour seals and other marine wildlife. You will ride aboard a 14-metre ocean cruiser or a custom-built Zodiac boat that offers high speed with extraordinary stability giving you an exhilarating, safe and intimate whale watching experience. Comments by a certified Marine biologist and naturalist are provided.
