Magical Canadian Rockies Adventures Fly Drive

Vancouver * Kelowna * Sun Peaks * Jasper * Banff

Ideal for families or couples alike this adventure fly drive where you can enjoy horse-riding, white water rafting and a floatplane-whale watching tour to Victoria all included with one of our most popular itineraries touring some of the most interesting routes through the Canadian Rockies. This itinerary starts in the captivating city of Vancouver, travels through the heart of British Columbia and along the Icefields Parkway in Alberta visiting several icons of the Canadian Rockies.

2018 - 13 days from £2,522 sharing twin + flights

Day 1 - U.K. - Vancouver

Your Canada holiday starts with Air Canada from London (Heathrow) to Vancouver - regional departures are available on request. On arrival, there will be a private car transfer to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.

Overnights (3): Vancouver - Coast Coal Harbour Hotel

Days 2-3 - Vancouver

Renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breath-taking views in every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. There are numerous attractions, all within easy reach of downtown; visit Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown and Granville Island with its craft workshops and superb restaurants. For a stunning vista of Vancouver and its harbour, take the gondola up Grouse Mountain.

Included Activity: Your adventure begins with a scenic floatplane flight across the picturesque Strait of Georgia to Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Here, you will step aboard a high-tech, high-powered Zodiac vessel and embark on a thrilling whale watching excursion. The waters around Victoria are home to resident pods of orcas and the sight and sound of these magnificent mammals in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience. The on board naturalist will tell you all about the ecosystem. Other possible highlights will be porpoises, seals, eagles and numerous seabird species. You will return to Vancouver by coach and ferry through the scenic Gulf Islands. Minimum age 2, photo ID is required.

Day 4 - Vancouver – Kelowna (250 miles)

Collect your car from downtown Vancouver and head for the hills via the Coquihalla Pass. This spectacular route into the interior was first explored by the Hudson Bay Company for trappers, hunters and fur traders in the late 18th Century as well as being used by gold prospectors in the 1850s. Continue to Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. Located on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake, a visit to one of many wineries for which this area is famed is recommended.

Overnight (1): Kelowna - Best Western Inn

Days 5-6 - Kelowna – Sun Peaks (118 miles)

Travel north through lake land to Vernon, an area renowned for cattle ranching. Allow some time to visit the historic O’Keefe Ranch. This was one of the largest cattle ranches in British Columbia but today it is a centre for the protection of rare and endangered species of livestock. Your next stop is Kamloops. The town’s name comes from the Shuswap language meaning ‘where the waters meet’ as it is situated on the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. Continue your drive to the mountain resort of Sun Peaks.

Overnight (1): Sun Peaks - Coast Sundance Lodge

Day 6 - Sun Peaks– Jasper (276 miles)

This morning your journey takes you north along the Yellowhead Highway with views of Mt. Terry Fox, Tete Jaune Cache and, at 3954 m. Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Visit Wells Gray Park, accessed from Clearwater, where you’ll discover a multitude of rapids, cataracts and waterfalls – two of the most spectacular being Dawson Falls and Helmcken Falls. Enjoy an included Jet boat ride through Grizzly Bear Valley. Continue to Jasper.

Overnights (3): Jasper - Best Western Jasper Inn

Included Activity - Enjoy more water action on the North Thompson River taking you through 12 kms of the spectacular Grizzly Bear Valley on a jet boat. An experienced guide will accompany you on a 1-hour river safari. Black bears, grizzly bears or moose are seen on most departures.

Days 7-8 - Jasper

Relax in the peace and tranquillity of the Jasper National Park. The Park is a showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and has a world-class golf resort whilst the town of Jasper itself is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose - all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to the exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world-famous Spirit Island.

Included Activity: - This 2.5 hr trip is an excellent introduction to white water rafting. Travelling approximately 9 kilometres, you will encounter many Class 2 white water rapids. Commentary on the human and natural history will be provided during the calm stretches. In rain or shine, people from ages 6 to 90 have great enjoyed this memorable experience. Join the fun and incomparable views of Jasper National Park with your National Park licensed guide on the Athabasca River. Wet suits, appropriate footwear and life jackets will be provided. Minimum age 6.

Day 9 - Jasper – Banff (176 miles)

A drive through stunning scenery along the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of snow and ice in the Rockies and take the ‘Ice Explorer’ ride onto the Athabasca Glacier. Lake Louise, with its sparkling, glacial blue waters and mountain goats on Mount Fairview, is also worth a stop.

Overnights (3): Banff - Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Days 10-11 – Banff

Situated on the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. Sometimes regarded as one of the most attractive small towns in North America, Banff is compact enough to comfortably explore on foot. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops.

Included Activity - Escape into the Canadian Rockies for a 2-hour trail ride. Follow the Bow River and traverse the side of Sulphur Mountain. This is an excellent opportunity to capture panoramic views of the valley from the Bow River and Sulphur Mountain. This excursion is suitable for novice to experienced rider. Minimum age 6, maximum weight 110 kg.

Day 12 - Banff – Calgary (74 miles)

A leisurely drive to Calgary for, perhaps, some last-minute souvenir hunting or a visit to one of the Historic Parks before dropping your hire car at the airport in time to catch your overnight flight back to the U.K.
