Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Port Hardy via Vancouver
Your Canada holiday starts with Air Canada from Heathrow to Vancouver. On arrival fly to Port Hardy and transfer independently to your centrally located hotel.
Overnight(1): Port Hardy - Quarterdeck Inn

Day 2 - Port Hardy to Great Bear Lodge
Your representative will meet you in Port Hardy and assist you with your transfer to the Great Bear Lodge by seaplane (departure at approximately 15:00). Upon your arrival at this spectacular wilderness retreat you will be met by your hosts and shown to your private room. Later you will participate in your first thrilling wildlife viewing session. In the evening enjoy a fresh gourmet meal prepared with the best local produce and seafood available, served with complimentary wine or beer. As well, participate in an informative audio visual presentation on the grizzly and its place in the local ecology. Relax in the lodge’s sitting room, or watch the moon rise over the mountains from its large decks. A perfect way to end the day!
Overnights(3): Great Bear Lodge

Day 3 - 4 - Great Bear Lodge
The Great Bear Lodge is pleased to promote low-impact ecotourism, using wind and solar power and taking special care not to disturb the bears or their environment. Scheduled morning and afternoon bear viewing sessions coincide with times when the bears are the most active. Accompanied by an experienced wildlife biologist you will observe the bears as they roam freely in their natural habitat as you float by boat through nearby estuaries or watch from specially-designed optimal viewing areas. Keep a close eye for other possible wildlife sightings such as wolves, otters, bald eagles, black bears, pine martins and mink. Daily guided activities such as boat tours and a popular interpretative rainforest walk are offered between morning and afternoon viewing excursions, and a delicious lunch awaits you back at the lodge. Guests arriving in fall will also be able to witness the incredible sight of thousands of migrating salmon from a series of enclosed viewing stands along the river. Watch as the grizzlies hunt for fish in preparation for their coming hibernation.

Day 5 - Great Bear Lodge to Port Hardy
On your day of departure you’ll participate in a final bearwatching session, followed by a farewell brunch before being transferred back to Port Hardy in the afternoon (between 16:00 and 18:00).
Overnight(1): Quarterdeck Inn - Port Hardy

Day 6 - Port Hardy to Vancouver
A leisurely morning before flying to Vancouver. On arrival you will be transferred by private sedan to your centrally located hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.
Overnights(3): Vancouver - Sandman Suites on Davie

Days 7 - 8 - Vancouver
Renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breathtaking views in each and every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. Enjoy all the city has offer with your included flexible city tour. Highlights of downtown Vancouver, including major attractions, and scenic points of interest. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days, and the convertible clear top buses offer stunning views, rain or shine. Choose to Hop-Off at any of the 20 plus stops, and Hop-On again to continue the tour. Take an up close and personal look at Vancouver’s urban oasis, Stanley Park, have lunch at Granville Island, visit the historical Gastown or the trendy Yaletown, and don’t forget Robson Street to do a little shopping! Highlights of the route include English Bay, Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown, Gastown, Chinatown, Robson Street, and the Entertainment District. Full commentary is offered in English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Mandarin. The tour loop duration is 120 minutes, without hopping off to visit attractions.

Day 9 - Vancouver – Kelowna (250 miles)
Collect your car from downtown Vancouver and head for the hills via the Coquihalla Pass. This spectacular route into the interior was first explored by the Hudson Bay Company for trappers, hunters and fur traders in the late 18th Century as well as being used by gold prospectors in the 1850s. Continue to Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. Located on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake, a visit to one of many wineries for which this area is famed is recommended.
Overnight(1): Kelowna - Best Western Kelowna Hotel

Day 10 - Kelowna – Sun Peaks (118 miles)
Travel north through lake land to Vernon, an area renowned for cattle ranching. Allow some time to visit the historic O’Keefe Ranch. This was one of the largest cattle ranches in British Columbia but today it is a centre for the protection of rare and endangered species of livestock. Your next stop is Kamloops. The town’s name comes from the Shuswap language meaning ‘where the waters meet’ as it is situated on the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers.
Overnight(1): Sun Peaks - Nancy Greene Lodge

Day 11 - Kamloops – Jasper (276 miles)
This morning your journey takes you north along the Yellowhead Highway with views of Mt. Terry Fox, Tete Jaune Cache and, at 3954 m. Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Visit Wells Gray Park, accessed from Clearwater, where you’ll discover a multitude of rapids, cataracts and waterfalls – two of the most spectacular being Dawson Falls and Helmcken Falls. Continue to Jasper.
Overnights(2): Jasper - Chateau Jasper

Day 12 - Jasper
Relax in the peace and tranquillity of the Jasper National Park. The Park is a showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and has a world-class golf resort whilst the town of Jasper itself is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose - all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to the exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world-famous Spirit Island.

Day 13 - Jasper – Banff (176 miles)
A drive through stunning scenery along the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of snow and ice in the Rockies and take the ‘snocoach’ ride onto the Athabasca Glacier. Lake Louise, with its sparkling, glacial blue waters and mountain goats on Mount Fairview, is also worth a stop.
Overnights(3): Banff - Brewster's Mountain Lodge

Days 14 - 15 - Banff
Situated on the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. Sometimes regarded as one of the most attractive small towns in North America, Banff is compact enough to comfortably explore on foot. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops.

Day 16 - Banff – Calgary (74 miles) to UK
A leisurely drive to Calgary for, perhaps, some last minute souvenir hunting or a visit to one of the Historic Parks before dropping your hire car at the airport in time to catch your overnight flight back to the U.K.

Day 17 - Arrive UK

Please note that due to the nature of the wildlife viewing, the minimum age for this holiday is 15 years.
