UK -Calgary
Your day starts with a scheduled Air Canada flight to Calgary. On arrival you will transferred to your centrally located hotel.
Overnight(1): Calgary
Day 2 Calgary – Banff (77 miles) Experience the pioneering spirit of Calgary and this area of Alberta by visiting one of the historic parks. Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore this city of contrasts or to do some shopping. Visit the Eaton Centre, TD Square or the Hudson’s Bay store. After lunch, collect your hire car from downtown before heading west through rolling foothills into the Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park. Overnights(4): Banff
Days 3 – 5 Banff Situated on the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops. Renowned for its winter activities, Banff is also the summer “gateway” to National Parks and the scenic splendour of the Icefields Parkway. Why not try an optional 2-hr trail ride or a full-day or half-day whitewater rafting trip.
Day 6 Banff – Jasper (173 miles) The drive along the Icefields Parkway features superb alpine scenery. Seemingly at every turn a new vista awaits with emerald lakes, waterfalls and swiftly flowing mountain streams. Visit the extensive Columbia Icefield, the largest formation of ice and snow in the Canadian Rockies and, weather permitting, why not take the ‘snocoach’ ride onto the Athabasca Glacier to walk on this imperceptibly moving river of ice. Overnights(3): Jasper
Days 7 – 8 Jasper A showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and a world-class golf resort, the town of Jasper is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose - all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to the exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountains peaks to world-famous Spirit Island. on the other hand why not try an optional whitewater rafting excursion? Return your hire car late afternoon.
Day 9 Jasper – Kamloops Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. As you journey west and south you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,972 ft) and the journey along the Thompson River as you approach your overnight destination, Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight(1): Kamloops
Day 10 Kamloops – Vancouver Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. on today’s journey you will again see dramatic changes of scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and forests surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains to the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your journey ends in Vancouver arriving late afternoon. Breakfast and lunch included. Overnights(3): Vancouver
Days 11 – 12 Vancouver Two days to explore this stunning harbour city. Renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breathtaking views in each, and every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. Explore the city on the included sightseeing tour visiting Stanley Park, Gastown, and Chinatown. Spend time on Granville Island with its craft workshops and superb restaurants and for a stunning vista of Vancouver and its harbour, take the gondola up Grouse Mountain. Why not take an optional whale-watch cruise in the Strait of Georgia?
