Day 1
UK – Toronto
Your Canada holiday starts with a departure from Heathrow for your Air Canada flight to Toronto. A private transfer is provided on arrival to your centrally located hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.

Day 2
Niagara Falls
Departing from individual Toronto hotels, this coach tour takes you to the charming township of Niagara-on-the-Lake where you have time to explore. Continuing to Niagara Falls, lunch and a boat ride o­n the Maid of the Mist (seasonal) to the foot of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls are included before your return to Toronto through vineyards and orchards.

Day 3
Toronto – Saskatoon

Transfer by private sedan to Toronto airport in good time for your flight across Canada to Saskatoon. O­n arrival pick up your hire car and take the short 2-hr drive to your ranch.

Days 4-9

At the Ranch

La Reata Ranch is a family-owned working cattle ranch located on 5,000 acres of hilly countryside in the beautiful Saskatchewan River Valley overlooking the shores of Lake Diefenbaker. Guests are treated to a true ‘hands-on’ experience and are expected to groom and saddle their own horse, one that will be paired with them throughout their stay to help create a wonderful bond between horse and rider. With the warm, dry prairie air at their backs, riders will enjoy free riding across a magnificent landscape of endless grassy terrain, uniquely dotted with cactuses. The ranch also invites guests to participate in a number of authentic ‘cowboy experiences’ which vary by season and may include trail rides, cattle branding (early June) and a cattle drive (late September / early October). The adventurous can even try their hand at tying lasso, roping cattle and barrel racing! Other recreational activities such as fishing, boating and swimming at nearby sandy beaches are also available. End your days with a cookout under the stars and a cowboy sing-a-long in this grand prairie setting.

This morning return to the airport for your overnight flight to the UK.

Ranch Info:

Guests stay in western-style wood cabins decorated to make any cowboy feel at home. There are six comfortable log-cabins and two 1.5-story cabins with loft bedrooms with enough space for up to 4 people. All other cabins have two twin beds or one queen-size bed and a private washroom with toilet and shower. Weekly cleaning is included. Bedding and toiletries are supplied. Everything you need for your private home away from. Meals are prepared in the ranch's Cookshack – wholesome, plentiful cowboy cuisine that includes melt in-your-mouth Canadian beef. Everybody gathers together at mealtimes, rubbing shoulders with the ranch family and other guests from around the world. Many friendships have been born while eating and sitting together. The Ranch has its own Saloon with a pool table, darts and country music. Everybody is welcome to use the hot tub at the back deck of the saloon whenever you feel like relaxing after a long day in the saddle.

Horse Riding

We do a lot of horseback riding at La Reata Ranch, because there is nothing better to experience the cowboy way-of-life!  After the famous and extensive La Reata Breakfast, it is time for everybody to saddle the horses! You will get a suitable horse to enjoy the time at La Reata. Then we take off for an exciting day ride to check the herd and to explore the large ranch property.  Beginners are welcome to have their first western riding lessons in our large riding arena at the main ranch. Everyone will have the chance to learn how to rope and work with cattle or try the first barrel race.  All guests are welcome to participate in the cattle and ranch work. We have to check and move cows on a daily basis and if necessary we have to catch some calves and treat them.  While there is a lot to do every day, we do not forget to relax and have a good lunch break with coffee, beans and sausages cooked over an open fire and a snooze in the sun.
