Day 1

UK - Halifax
Your Canada holiday starts with a departure from Heathrow for your Air Canada flight to Halifax.The brightest lights o­n Canada's east coast - the twin cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, and the busy harbour between them - welcome you to Canada. High-rise glass buildings rise next to modern shopping centres and historic building boutiques and bars, all grouped around the citadel national Historic Park.

Halifax - Kejimkujik National Park
(160 km)
Pickup your hire car today.Visit Peggy's Cove, Canada's most-photographed fishing village, and Lunenburg, a historic town o­n the coast, with its Fisheries, Museum and galleries with Inuit (Eskimo) and folk art. Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct has seals and the most beautiful coastline. (Note: Premium packages stay near the Kejinkujik Seaside and Standard packages stay near Inland Park)

Kejimkujik National Park
In an area with wild lakes, rivers and forest, Kejimkujik has abundant wildlife, and prehistoric Mi'kmag-Indian campsites. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy a walk o­n a forest trail or try canoeing o­n North America's oldest canoe routes.

Kejimkujik - Digby
(65 km)
Go whale watching on the Bay of Fundy, one of the best whale-watching area in the world. Eight kinds of whales and dolphins are regularly seen. Or visit some lighthouses as you travel through the Annapolis Valley - the part of Canada longest settled by Europeans and an area of rich farms.

Digby - Fredericton

A modern car ferry takes you to Saint John, New Brunswick. Follow the banks of the Saint John River to Fredericton. See the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and craft shops or visit Kings Landing Historical Settlement.

Fredericton - Kouchibouguac NP
(250 km)
You enter the forested heard of New Brunswick. Drive along the Miramichi river, Canada’s world famous salmon river, real "lumberjack country". Kouchibouguac National Park's long sand beaches have the warmest ocean water o­n your trip. The lagoons are among the most productive ecosystems in the world.

Day 7
Kouchibouguac - Moncton/Shediac
(290 kms)
Fundy National Park celebrates the world's highest tides over 16 metres. Visit the scenic viewpoints in the park and nearby Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park. At low tide you can walk along the beach among strange natural rock sculptures; 6 hours hours later the tide has covered them.

Day 8

Moncton/Shediac - Alberton/O'Leary  (180 kms)

The 13 km long "confederation Bridge" brings you to Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province. Quiet family farms and woodlots remind o­ne of country life 100 years ago. You might want to attend a traditional community "lobster supper".

Day 9
Alberton/O'Leary - Montague
(150 km)
this park protects miles upon miles of beautiful seacoast, and an old wooden farmhouse that shows life o­n the island over 100 years ago, the setting for a famous novel, "Anne of Green Gables".

Montague - Sydney
(350 km)
The hardwood hills of eastern Nova Scotia hide many scenic treasures... perhaps the most lovely is the beautiful Lake Bras D'Or. Bald eagles are abundant.

Sydney - Ferry - Port-aux-Basques
(5 km)
A good chance to watch for whales and seabirds o­n this 6-hour cruise.

Day 12
Port-aux-Basques - Gros Morne National Park
(350 km)
Mountains and fjords are the major landscape in this rugged Newfoundland setting. Former "outports" via for your attention with unique ancient rock formations in this "World heritage Site".

Day 13
Gros Morne National Park

Gros Morne’s major attraction is its dramatic and beautiful landscape of tablelands, fjords, ponds, cliffs and small protected coves. Explore the park’s mountains and ocean edge on one of its 22 walking and hiking trails or a boat tour on an inland fjord.

Day 14
Gros Morne NP - Twillingate
(430 km)
Drive along endless forests, lakes and rivers, the land of the vanished Beothuk Indians. Visit archaeological sites and museums. Twillingate is an old "outport" located at the end of a series of islands and causeways, where each twist in the road brings a new vista.

Day 15

Twillingate – Terra Nova NP (350 km)

Follow the scenic Newfoundland coast, where beachcombers can find all kinds of “treasures” washed ashore. The real treasure is the sight of a giant blue-green iceberg, glassy in the summer sun, which frequently pass by this coast in early summer.

Day 16

Terra Nova NP – St. John’s (240 km)

An opportunity for a boat cruise with marine biologists to examine the abundant marine life of this rugged coast, along with a chance to look for whales and icebergs makes this day a highlight of the trip.

Day 17

St. John’s

Enjoy your day in St. John’s, capital of Newfoundland/Labrador. Visit Cape Spears, the most easterly point in North America or go for a whale watching tour in Bay Bull’s.

 

 

 

Day 18

St. John’s – Ferry to Nova Scotia (130 km excluding ferry)

Watch for whales and seabirds o­n this 12-14 hour cruise to return to Nova Scotia. You will spend the night onboard ship.

Day 19

Sydney – Baddeck (60 km)

After arrival in Sydney you have a chance to visit the walled fortress at Louisbourg, where costumed animators live the life of this former French capital of America as in 1744. Afterwards continue to Baddeck, a small lakeside resort vilage on Bras D'Or Lake.

Day 20

Baddeck - Chetcamp/Glenville (200 kms)

Drive the Cabot Trail, the most famous scenic drive in Eastern America. Moose are common, walking trails are excellent and whales can often be seen from the hills overlooking the coast.

Day 21 - Cheticamp/Glenville – Halifax (400 km)

Continue to mainland Nova Scotia. The "Marine Drive" leads through the forest at the head of the harbours and over low hills. Many excellent ocean views are available from small side roads to the shore

Time for some final sightseeing and souvenir shopping before dropping your car at Halifax Airport in time for your flight to the UK.
