Day 1 U.K. - Vancouver
Your Canada holiday starts with Air Canada from London (Heathrow) to Vancouver. On arrival there is a private transfer to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.
Overnights(3): Vancouver
Day 2-3 Vancouver Renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breathtaking views in each and every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. There are numerous attractions, all within easy reach of downtown; visit Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown and Granville Island with its craft workshops and superb restaurants. For a stunning vista of Vancouver and its harbour, take the gondola up Grouse Mountain.
Day 4 Vancouver – Kelowna (250 miles) Collect your car from downtown Vancouver and head for the hills via the Coquihalla Pass. This spectacular route into the interior was first explored by the Hudson Bay Company for trappers, hunters and fur traders in the late 18th Century as well as being used by gold prospectors in the 1850s. Continue to Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. Located on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake, a visit to one of many wineries for which this area is famed is recommended. Overnight(1): Kelowna
Day 5 Kelowna – Kamloops (136 miles) Travel north through lake land to Vernon, an area renowned for cattle ranching. Allow some time to visit the historic O’Keefe Ranch. This was one of the largest cattle ranches in British Columbia but today it is a centre for the protection of rare and endangered species of livestock. Your next stop is Kamloops. The town’s name comes from the Shuswap language meaning ‘where the waters meet’ as it is situated on the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. Overnight(1): Kamloops
Day 6 Kamloops – Jasper (295 miles) This morning your journey takes you north along the Yellowhead Highway with views of Mt. Terry Fox, Tete Jaune Cache and, at 3954 m. Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Visit Wells Gray Park, accessed from Clearwater, where you’ll discover a multitude of rapids, cataracts and waterfalls – two of the most spectacular being Dawson Falls and Helmcken Falls. Continue to Jasper. Overnights(2): Jasper
Day 7 Jasper Relax in the peace and tranquillity of the Jasper National Park. The Park is a showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and has a world-class golf resort whilst the town of Jasper itself is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose - all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to the exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world-famous Spirit Island.
Day 8 Jasper – Banff (176 miles) A drive through stunning scenery along the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of snow and ice in the Rockies and take the ‘snocoach’ ride onto the Athabasca Glacier. Lake Louise, with its sparkling, glacial blue waters and mountain goats on Mount Fairview, is also worth a stop. Overnights(3): Banff
Day 9-10 Banff Situated on the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. Sometimes regarded as one of the most attractive small towns in North America, Banff is compact enough to comfortably explore on foot. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops.
Day 11 Banff – Calgary (74 miles) A leisurely drive to Calgary for, perhaps, some last minute souvenir hunting or a visit to one of the Historic Parks before dropping your hire car at the airport in time to catch your overnight flight back to the U.K.
