Day 1 UK – Calgary Your Canada holiday starts with a departure from Heathrow on non-stop Air Canada flight to Calgary. On arrival a transfer will be provided to your historic city centre hotel, the Fairmont Palliser. The rest of your day is at leisure Overnights(2): Calgary
Day 2 Calgary Your day is at leisure. Widely regarded as the “gateway to the Rockies”, and home to the famous Stampede, Calgary is a stylish and friendly city. Enjoy visiting several historic and modern highlights including Calgary’s birthplace, Fort Calgary and Olympic Park with a trip to the top of the ski-jump tower.
Day 3 Calgary – Banff (77 miles) Today collect your hire car and head west through the rolling foothills to beautiful Banff, set in the Rocky Mountains. Your base for the next two nights is the Fairmont Banff Springs, a landmark chateau-style resort originally built for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Overnights(2): Banff
Day 4 Banff Situated on the doorstep of spectacular scenery, Banff nestles amidst the glory of the Canadian Rockies. With a wealth of attractions, ranging from the Hot Springs to the gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, Banff boasts an attractive main street with numerous cafes and craft shops. Renowned for its winter activities, Banff is also the summer “gateway” to National Parks and the scenic splendour of the Icefields Parkway.
Day 5 Banff – Lake Louise (33 miles) An easy drive takes you through mountain scenery to the turquoise waters of Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This historic, chateau-style hotel overlooks the famous lake with the Victoria Glacier as a dramatic backdrop. Try a walk round the lake, hike to nearby Moraine Lake or try horseback riding or fly-fishing. Overnights(2): Lake Louise
Day 6 Lake Louise Lake Louise, with its blue-green water set against the stark backdrop of Victoria Glacier, is probably the most photographed scene in the Canadian Rockies. The village of Lake Louise holds an array of fine dining and shopping. Scenic drives will take you to the awe-inspiring Moraine Lake, the beautiful Icefields Parkway and the Athabasca Glacier.
Day 7 Lake Louise – Jasper (140 miles) Today you travel the Icefields Parkway through the natural wonders of Banff and Jasper National Parks. Spectacular glaciers, cascading waterfalls, turquoise lakes and colourful meadows dot this awe-inspiring mountain wilderness. The snow-capped peaks and endless mountain ridges are home to a wide variety of wildlife, including bears, wolves, deer and eagles. Stop at the Columbia Icefield where you can ride a “snocoach” onto the massive Athabasca Glacier Your home for the next two nights is the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, a deluxe lakeside resort set in wooded grounds around Lac Beauvert. Overnights(2): Jasper
Day 8 Jasper A showcase of pearly blue lakes, long ridge-top hikes, canyons and a world-class golf resort, the town of Jasper is a sleepy sanctuary, known as a refuge for bighorn sheep, elk, deer and moose - all of which have been spotted wandering its streets. A trip to the exquisite Maligne Lake, the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies, is well recommended where a cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world-famous Spirit Island. Return your car to the rental depot in the afternoon ready to cross the Rockies by train tomorrow.
Day 9 Jasper – Kamloops Travel o¬nboard the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. As you journey west and south you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,972 ft) and the journey along the Thompson River as you approach your overnight destination, Kamloops. Day 10 Kamloops – Vancouver Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. on today’s journey you will again see dramatic changes of scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and forests surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains to the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your journey ends in Vancouver arriving late afternoon. on arrival, take a taxi to the Fairmont Waterfront, a deluxe contemporary waterfront hotel which is adjacent to Canada Place with superb views of Vancouver’s harbour. Days 11-12 Vancouver The following day explore this stunning harbour city. Renowned as o¬ne of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural scenery with breathtaking views in each and every direction, has a bustling metropolitan core and boasts one of the mildest climates in Canada. Explore the city on the included sightseeing tour visiting Stanley Park, Gastown, and Chinatown. Spend time on Granville Island with its craft workshops and superb restaurants and for a stunning vista of Vancouver and its harbour, take the gondola up Grouse Mountain
Days 13-14 Vancouver – Victoria This morning fly by scenic floatplane direct from Vancouver Harbour over the picturesque Gulf Islands to stately Victoria. The capital city of British Columbia, Victoria is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and is world-renowned for its charming ambience. Sometimes referred to as the “garden city” Victoria has a bustling harbour, heritage buildings and offers numerous whale watching cruises. Visit the beautiful Butchart Gardens and explore the harbour area by horse drawn carriage or stroll amongst the narrow streets and market. Your home for the next two nights is the Fairmont Empress Hotel, a deluxe historic hotel overlooking the Inner Harbour. Overnights(2): Victoria
Day 15 Victoria – UK (via Vancouver) Time for last minute shopping or sightseeing before your included scheduled transfer to Victoria’s airport for your short economy flight to Vancouver, and your overnight flight to the UK.
